Following the Wyndham Championship, the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings advance to the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Shane Lowry, ranked No. 60, is the only player ranked between Nos. 60-80 in the FedExCup standings who is not in the field. In 2025, Chris Kirk finished T5 and became the only player to move inside the top 70 following the Wyndham Championship.
Jason Day, currently No. 75, and Keegan Bradley, at No. 72, both sit outside the top 70 in the FedExCup standings. Day seeks to extend his streak of consecutive Playoffs appearances, going for his 19th since 2008. Bradley looks to extend his streak, seeking his 16th consecutive Top 70 FedExCup finish since 2011.
Since its inception in 2007, the FedExCup has featured the Wyndham Championship as the Regular Season finale. The tournament has been held at Sedgefield Country Club since 2008. This year marks the 87th annual Wyndham Championship, which has been included on the PGA TOUR schedule since 1938. The Wyndham Championship ranks as the seventh-longest running TOUR event excluding the majors.
The Wyndham Championship winner will receive 500 FedExCup points and a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR. The champion will also receive $1,530,000 in prize money. The winner will be exempt for THE PLAYERS Championship, Masters Tournament, and PGA Championship in 2027.
At the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship, the top 70 players in the FedExCup standings qualify for the first event of the Playoffs, the FedEx St. Jude Championship (Aug. 13-16). Following the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the top 50 players advance to the BMW Championship (Aug. 20-23). After the BMW Championship, the top 30 players advance to the TOUR Championship (Aug. 27-30).
Fifteen of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking are in the field, led by No. 3 Cameron Young. Sixty-seven of the top 100 in the FedExCup standings are in the field, including 21 of the top 50, led by No. 3 Cameron Young.
Four past FedExCup champions compete in the field: Brandt Snedeker (2012), Billy Horschel (2014), Jordan Spieth (2015), and Justin Thomas (2017). Eight past Wyndham Championship winners are in the field with nine combined wins: Cameron Young (2025), Aaron Rai (2024), Lucas Glover (2023), Tom Kim (2022), J.T. Alex Fitzpatrick, a former Wake Forest University standout, makes his debut start at the Wyndham Championship. During his college career spanning 2018-2022, he ranked third in Wake Forest program history with a career stroke average of 70.94. He helped lead the Demon Deacons to the 2022 ACC tournament title during his senior season.
This season, Fitzpatrick has recorded five top-10 finishes in 10 starts. He most recently finished T71 at The Open Championship. He currently holds the No. 19 position in the FedExCup standings.
Fitzpatrick and his brother Matt won the 2026 Zurica Classic of New Orleans with a tournament-record 31-under 257. This victory made him the first non-member and sponsor exemption to win on TOUR since Michael Brennan at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship. With his win in New Orleans, Fitzpatrick earned a PGA TOUR card through 2028.

Ryan Gerard, a second-year PGA Tour member and former University of North Carolina standout, is making his third start at the Wyndham Championship. He missed the cut in both 2023 and 2025 at this event.

Jackson Koivun enters the Wyndham Championship making his second appearance at the event as a sponsor exemption, posting a T5 finish in 2025. The 21-year-old arrives two weeks removed from his first PGA TOUR title. He captured victory at the 3M Open with a commanding three-stroke victory over runner-up Scottie Scheffler. He became the youngest winner since Aldrich Potgieter at the 2025 Rocket Classic. He also became the youngest American player to win a PGA TOUR event by multiple strokes since Ralph Guldahl won the 1932 WM Phoenix Open.
Koivun’s dominant 3M Open performance featured three bogey-free rounds. He broke the 72-hole tournament scoring record with a 25-under 259. The victory propelled him from 194th to 70th in the FedExCup standings. His Official World Golf Ranking climbed from 206th to 73rd following the win. He currently sits at No. 70 in the FedExCup standings and seeks to qualify for the Playoffs as a rookie.
This season, Koivun owns three top-25 finishes across five starts. His results include T23 at the U.S. Open (his last start as an amateur), a missed cut at the John Deere Classic, T10 at the ISCO Championship, a win at the 3M Open, and T31 at the Rocket Classic.
Koivun turned professional last month after earning former No. 1 status in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. He accepted PGA TOUR membership via PGA TOUR University Accelerated, becoming the third player to earn a TOUR card through the Accelerated program. Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt and Luke Clanton of Florida State preceded him through this pathway. He had the option to accept PGA TOUR membership in June 2025 but opted to return to Auburn for his 2025-26 junior season.
Prior to turning professional, he spent 56 consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. This represents the third-longest reign in history, only behind Keita Nakajima (87 weeks) and Jon Rahm (60 weeks). He became the first college player to sweep Fred Haskins, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson national awards in the same season (2024).
