Zac Blair opened with an 8-under 63, establishing his lowest 18-hole score this season. His previous best was a 65 at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in the second round.

Zach Johnson, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa native, finished tied for third place at seven-under par. He closed the round with an eagle and birdie on holes 17 and 18. Johnson shot a 64, which fell one stroke short of his best score. His best score of 63 came in the first round of 2014. Johnson has played 87 rounds at TPC Deere Run. The 2012 John Deere Classic winner is making his 24th tournament appearance at the event.
