The Valspar Championship 2026 belonged to Matt Fitzpatrick, who shot four steady rounds to claim the title at Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course. Fitzpatrick posted 68-69-68-68 for a 11-under total. That kind of consistency is rare, and it won a golf tournament.

Pre-tournament odds for Fitzpatrick were not listed in the Wednesday snapshot, so we cannot state his opening price. What we can state is what he did on the course. He never shot worse than 69 all week. He closed with a 68 on Sunday while the players above him on the leaderboard were busy falling apart.

David Lipsky finished second at 10-under. Jordan Smith grabbed third at 9-under after a closing 66. Lipsky entered the week at a remarkable +39,379 to win outright. Smith was listed at +8,991. Neither won, but both delivered strong weeks against long odds.

One Memorable Moment

Sungjae Im entered Sunday as the outright leader. He had fired a first-round 64 to grab early control. However, Sunday was a different story. Im shot a 74, which was 6.7 strokes worse than his three-round scoring average. That is not a stumble. That is a collapse.

Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick quietly shot another 68 and took the title. The Copperhead Course demands precise iron play and sharp putting on fast, undulating greens. Im could not deliver either on Sunday. Fitzpatrick could. That was the whole tournament right there.

Winners and Losers

Winners

Emiliano Grillo was sitting at T38 after Saturday. He then shot a 65 on Sunday and climbed all the way to T7. That kind of final round is worth real money. Grillo entered the week at +65,820 to win, so nobody expected him to be a factor. He was anyway.

Xander Schauffele was T25 heading into Sunday. His 65 launched him to T4. Schauffele clearly found something during his final round. Similarly, Stephan Jaeger went from T25 to T7 with a closing 66.

Losers

Brandt Snedeker stood at T2 heading into Sunday. He then shot a 76, which was 8 strokes worse than his three-round average. That one stings. He fell 16 spots to T18. That is a brutal collapse from a player who was so close to contending.

Adrien Dumont De Chassart was T6 with 18 holes to play. He shot 74 and dropped to T26. Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen fell from T25 all the way to T55 with a matching 74.

Odds and Value Recap

Several players in the Valspar Championship 2026 top five carried long pre-tournament prices. Here is what the numbers looked like heading into the week.

David Lipsky entered at +39,379 to win and +5,434 to finish top 5. He finished second. That is an extraordinary result for a player carrying less than a 2% implied top-5 probability.

Jordan Smith was +8,991 to win and +1,545 to finish top 5. He delivered a top-3 result. His closing 66 made that possible.

Sungjae Im opened at +14,288 to win and +2,211 to finish top 5. He finished T4 despite his Sunday collapse.

Marco Penge was +4,972 to win and +971 to finish top 5. He delivered at T4.

Longshot Flags

Several top-10 finishers carried win odds well beyond 50/1. Emiliano Grillo was listed at +65,820. Matthieu Pavon came in at +54,936. A.J. Ewart was +44,683. Those are massive prices for players who landed inside the top 11. Lipsky at +39,379 to win is the most striking of the group.

Longshot Callout

Stephan Jaeger was listed at +10,209 to win and +776 to finish top 10 heading into the week. He closed with a 66 on Sunday and finished T7. That is exactly the kind of week we were watching for. Beyond that, Grillo at +65,820 and Ewart at +44,683 both landing T7 and T11 respectively makes this week a strong one for anyone who took shots on overlooked names.

Bad Beats

Snedeker’s Sunday Was Rough

Brandt Snedeker is one of the most respected names in the game. However, his Sunday at the Valspar Championship 2026 was painful to watch. He stood at T2 after 54 holes. He then shot a 76, which was 8 strokes worse than his three-round average. Brutal. He fell to T18 when he was knocking on the door of a potential win.

Im Lets the Lead Slip

Sungjae Im led the tournament outright after 54 holes. He had been the best player in the field through three rounds, including that opening 64. Nevertheless, Sunday exposed him. His 74 was 6.7 strokes worse than his three-round average. He still finished T4, so the week was not a complete disaster. But he held the lead and did not convert. That is going to stick with him.

Others Who Fell Back

Dumont De Chassart fell from T6 to T26 with a 74. Yu Kevin dropped from T11 to T30 after a 73. None of those collapses were as dramatic as Snedeker or Im, but each player left real money on the table by struggling when the Valspar Championship 2026 pressure peaked on Sunday.
