World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler carded the low round with a 9-under 61. He made 11 birdies and two bogeys. Scheffler became the ninth player on TOUR in the ShotLink Era since 2003 to score 61 or better with multiple bogeys or worse in the same round. Justin Rose last achieved this feat with a final-round 60 at the 2022 RBC Canadian Open.

Scheffler opened the second round with five consecutive birdies on holes 1–5. This run produced a front-nine score of 30. He tied the tournament course record, previously recorded by four players. Justin Rose set the most recent mark during the 2023 third round.

Scheffler's previous best 18-hole score at TPC Southwind was 65, which he recorded four times. This 61 surpassed that mark significantly.

Scheffler has now shot 61 or better four times in his PGA TOUR career across 638 total rounds. In 2020, he shot 59 in the FedEx St. Jude Championship second round at TPC Boston, finishing T4. During the 2026 Travelers Championship second round, he shot 60 and finished second in a playoff. At the 2025 CJ CUP Byron Nelson first round, he shot 61 and won the event. Most recently, he shot 61 in the 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship second round.

Scheffler led all players in the second round in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green at 3.479. He also led in Strokes Gained: Putting at 3.868.

Through two rounds, Scheffler leads the field in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green at 6.642. He also leads in total birdies with 14, while the next best is 13 by Sungjae Im.

In six prior starts in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scheffler recorded three finishes of T4 or better. These include a T3 in 2025, a fourth-place finish in 2024, and a T4 in 2020.
