The player earns his second 36-hole lead or co-lead on tour. His first came at the 2018 John Deere Classic, which he won. Now in his 11th season on tour, he seeks his second PGA Tour title. This represents his 275th career start on the professional circuit.

He finished 31st in the 2025 FedExCup standings, marking his career best. Entering this week, he ranked No. 65 in FedExCup standings overall. This season brought one top-10 finish across 21 starts. That top-10 finish came at the Valero Texas Open, where he tied second place.

In the 3M Open's seven-year history, only two players won after holding the 36-hole lead or co-lead. Lee Hodges won in 2023 and Michael Thompson in 2020. On tour this season, 10 of 30 individual stroke-play events were won by 36-hole leaders. The most recent example was Tom Kim at the Genesis Scottish Open.

Ben Kohles, the 18-hole leader, tied for second at minus-11. He followed a career-low 62 with a second-round 69. He sits inside the top five after 36 holes for the second time in his last three starts. He tied fourth after two rounds at the 2026 John Deere Classic and finished tied third overall.

Kohles is a five-time Korn Ferry Tour winner seeking his first PGA Tour title. This marks his 122nd career start on the professional level.

Emiliano Grillo also tied second place at minus-11. He recorded rounds of 64 and 67 for a 36-hole score of 131. This represents his best 36-hole score of the season. In his seventh appearance at the 3M Open, he owns three top-10 finishes at TPC Twin Cities. Those finishes came tied third in 2020, tied second in 2022, and tied tenth in 2023.

In his 288th career start, Grillo seeks his third PGA Tour title. He won the 2015 Procore Championship and the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.

Chandler Phillips also tied second place at minus-11. He leads all players through 36 holes in Strokes Gained Around the Green with 3.648. He ranks second in Strokes Gained Putting at 5.844. Phillips is a third-year PGA Tour member seeking his first win in his 78th career start.
