What They Said

Wyndham Clark

Wyndham ClarkWinner

Reflecting on his lowest moment before redemption

After what happened at Oakmont was obviously the lowest point. I was in a dark place, didn’t really go outside much. It was a really negative, dark place.

On the hostile crowd atmosphere during final round

They definitely didn’t want me to win. It’s pretty rare in an Open Championship or a major to have fans kind of boo against your shots or cheer for bad shots.

Reacting to father’s surprise appearance on 18th green

For him to surprise me was amazing, and so I can’t wait to spend more time with my dad tonight celebrating this, because it’s not just my win. It’s my team.

Sam BurnsRunner-up

Describing his final birdie attempt on closing hole

I really thought I made that putt on 18. I hit it exactly how I wanted with the speed I wanted and just didn’t go in.

Explaining the emotion of nearly winning on Father’s Day

It’s just not very often we have a chance to win a major on a Father’s Day. I think just the weight of that and knowing what that memory could have been like, it would have been really special.
