I did do a couple of diaper changes during the rain delay. Usually you just sit there and play on your phone during rain delays, but it was nice to hang out with our babies.

— Scottie Scheffler, post-round

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, the 2024 Travelers Championship winner, posted a remarkable 60 in the second round. This score equals the lowest second-round score in Travelers Championship history, matching achievements by Tommy Bolt at Wethersfield Country Club in 1954 and Patrick Cantlay at TPC River Highlands in 2011.

Scheffler's 60 equals the best round of the season. Other players posting identical scores include Andrew Putnam in the second round at The American Express finishing tied for second, Blades Brown in the second round at The American Express finishing tied for 18th, Si Woo Kim in the second round at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson finishing second, and Wyndham Clark in the fourth round at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson winning the event.

One stroke shy of joining an elite club, Scheffler narrowly missed becoming only the second player with multiple sub-60 rounds on the PGA TOUR. He recorded a second-round 59 at the 2020 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Boston. Jim Furyk remains the only player achieving this distinction with a 58 in the fourth round at the 2016 Travelers Championship and a 59 in the second round at the 2013 BMW Championship.

At 16-under 124, Scheffler set the opening 36-hole scoring record at the Travelers Championship. The previous record stood at 125, set by both Denny McCarthy and Keegan Bradley in 2023. This 124 score equals his best opening 36-hole score on the PGA TOUR, previously set en route to winning the 2025 CJ CUP Byron Nelson. The same 124 score equals the best opening 36-hole score this season, matching Si Woo Kim's mark at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson where he finished second.

Scheffler holds the second-round lead or co-lead for the 21st time on TOUR. He has converted the 36-hole lead or co-lead into victory 9 of 20 times. Early in his career, he won just twice in his first 11 attempts with the 36-hole lead or co-lead, winning the 2022 Masters Tournament and 2023 WM Phoenix Open. However, he has won seven of nine attempts since, with his most recent victory being the 2026 American Express. His most recent event failing to convert the 36-hole lead or co-lead to victory was the 2025 Travelers Championship where he finished tied for sixth.

In the second round, Scheffler led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting with 4.841.
